I give, and I give, and I give. It's just never enough. - Woman, Mother!
I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING SO TERRIBLE IN MY LIFETIME! I feel filthy! Watching this movie makes me irritated, my blood boil, and I feel as if I have rolled in the trash; by garbage I mean the entire script of this stupid movie. I don’t know what I watched, but it was tortuous to suffer through(especially the last half hour).
So you are probably wondering why is this listed in the 'Golden Door' category, how could something be so terribly be a must watch movie-- Well, because it is profoundly genius. There is an undeniable spirit about it that is gross, defiling, perhaps maybe as far as saying it is blasphemous and wicked, yet there is a small and lambent light of clarity, imagination, and philosophical beauty.
It was so bad it was good. I love it for all the same reasons I hate it.
My First question is, WHY?! Why did they think it smart to let random people stay in their house when they literally live in the middle of nowhere. Have y’all not heard of stranger danger? Keeping your legs closed as well as the door to your home to unwelcome visitors.
However, as I write this I realize, there are only a few things that I could say that wouldn’t break the mysticism and charm of the movie.
It’s absurd. I would without a doubt call this trash. But see it. It makes you strongly feel something and art are nothing more than a reaction to life. You just got get past all the people without tact, common decency, or humanity to grasp the heart of "Mother!" It’s provocative. It’s disturbing. It is in the truest sense of the word a form of Art. I don’t like it, but y’all know I give credit where credit is due. It is a rollercoaster that you beg to get off of, the one you are most scared to ride, yet the one you are the proudest of riding.
Also technically speaking, the movie was SUPERB! The acting, the cinematography, the sound design(the best part), and the graphics were all fantastic. It's just the overall general idea, not meaning/message, were stupid.
Anyhow, Director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), still earns my praise.
I still think the movie is trash. Let's make that clear.
But, part of me still wants to see it again. Now that I know what I'm getting into visually, I'd like to look at it deeper. I imagine, this is what it is like to watch "The Room."
FLOOR OR DOOR?
Should it have been left on the cutting room floor or should you be running out the door to see it?
Go out the GOLDEN(unfortunately) DOOR, to the Theatre to see "Mother!" Something tells me you could never recapture the feel of the movie within the walls of a home.
See the movie not because it is bad(because it's not good), but rather because the experience of watching(though painful) is good. Always be open to letting things ruminate within your mind after digesting it
But, i'm still listing this worthy of being on the filthy floor. Why? The movie is trash. I hope i've made that as clear as possible.
